May Surprises!

We had a lot of fun these last few weeks. I was most surprised the day Mike came home and oh so casually said that his group was getting a week of in May. My first response was "is that a furlough, without pay." Nope, just a week off. Yeah! That's even better then a raise I would have to say. You can never take back time spent with family that's for sure!

The ideas were flown around.  What should we do on short notice.....Hmmmmm..... well, we decided to have a low key week and play it by ear. First off, some yard work.....

Then we went out to my Mom's beach house in Manzanita. The kids love it there and the weather was great for half of the time and not so great for the other half.  We played on the beach a lot!

Then it started to rain on Wednesday, like a lot of rain and wind. We decided to brave the rain and go on our traditional bike ride around Nehalem State Park. We were pretty wet when we got back. Let's just say it was a good day to take a nap and rest the afternoon away.

That day, we decided to spontaneously drive down the coast making a stopover at a couple of places.

First off, you have to stop at the cheese factory......the ice cream was good!

Then we stayed in Newport or one night and went swimming at the hotel in the backround.

The next morning we went to the Oregong coast aquarium where our camera died. Hence the lack of pictures here.

Then we went to Hawaii or awhile. HA HA, fooled you! This is the oregon coast on an amazing day! Talk about an awesome view from up here. What a great stopover!

And then we were welcomed with go carts at Mike's Aunt and Uncle's house in North Bend. Jake and Sam were in heaven there. With lots of cousins, a trampoline, swing, go carts, Big Ike, and Big Jake, they hit the jack pot. We played hard all day and slept good at night.

Sam with his cousin Riley. Aren't they cute? Can you tell they are cousins? They are actually 2nd cousins.

Sledding on the sand dunes, basking in the sun. Who needs Hawaii?

We were sad when our trip came to an end, but had a great time and enjoyed the unexpected time together that week!

Now, all I need is a new Coccyx, as I seemed to have broken it.

Hence, the cushion. Believe me, when I say this is the only way I can sit for longer then 5 minutes at a time. Another 4-6 months (yowzers, I know) , and it should be as good as new.
